Chinese address format

A Chinese address can be written in either English or Chinese/Mandarin. If an address is written in Chinese, it's in the opposite order to the UK format, starting with the country first. However, you can use an English format when writing addresses in English.

How do you write a Chinese address in English characters?

Step 1

Underneath the recipient's name, write the premises and street. There are variations like the addition of door, floor, building etc. and a difference between urban and rural addresses, so it's best to check before you send.

Step 2

Add the postcode/zip code next to the province name. The 6-digit postcode comprises a 4-digit destination country and a 2-digit delivery region. For example, Shanghai's zip code is 200000.

Step 3

Lastly, add the destination country's name in capital letters. e.g., China. Whether you write an address in English or Chinese, the country name must be in English for both versions.

How easy is it to send a parcel to China with Interparcel?

Inbuilt customs form

All international deliveries from the UK require a customs invoice. Luckily, we've incorporated the customs form within our booking process to make it easier and simpler to complete.

If you're unfamiliar with customs forms, you can read our recent article on how to complete them.

Automatic address format

When you book a courier service to China, we ask you to enter the delivery city or postcode so we can format the address correctly. The receiver's telephone number and email address are also required if the courier needs to contact them about their delivery. China's dialling code is +86. You can choose to receive our tracking email or SMS notifications during the booking process.

Free parcel tracking

As a self-tracking service, you can track your delivery to China once the courier has scanned and collected the parcel on our website. Your tracking number will start with GB followed by 10 digits, e.g., GB1234567890.
